Vague info on Black Henna (PPD) on Yahoo

REAL HENNA IS NOT BLACK.

Real henna is NEVER black.

REAL HENNA IS BROWN! CHECK YOUR FACTS!
Yahoo and the t.v. news segment listed on the article does NOT fully inform you correctly, they just scare you into not getting temporary tattoo's. Temporary tattoo's are not bad, you just have to be correctly informed on what to look out for, like anything else.

The chemical PPD ( p-phenylenediamine ) is like a black paint and should NEVER be used. Some people can get a very bad reaction to the chemical and it can result in horrible scaring.

Most henna artists will test henna batches on themselves to show customers the process and expected result to better understand. You can also ask to test a tiny dot of it yourself.

Real henna is made of natural products. Real henna is made of leaves of a specific plant ( Lawsonia inermis, you can check Wikipedia ), citrus and natural oil.
The henna paste ( made from natural products ) which is applied to skin ranges in natural color from a green, brown, to a really dark brown that may almost seem blackish.
REAL HENNA ALWAYS STAINS THE SKIN THE COLORS BROWN TO RED.

Real brown henna has been used for centuries and even today by cultures such as India and Africa. " Henna has been used since the Bronze Age to dye skin (including body art), hair, fingernails, leather, silk and wool. " It is a natural stainer.

There is also another option for temporary tattooing called Jagua, which is made from a fruit ( Genipa americana ) which stains the skin more of a bluish black color." While henna tattoos are associated with Indian, African and Middle Eastern cultures, jagua is associated with indigenous Indians of the Amazon region."
